Biography.
Hi! I’m Anna, a jazz vocalist and composer from Sweden. I graduated from the musicians program at Skurup Folkhögskola in 2000 and I have worked professionally as a freelancer ever since. I also produce and arrange music, for my own projects and others.
Anna Lundqvist Quintet was my main band between 2005 and 2021. Together with ALQ I’ve released five albums; and in 2017 we released our fifth and last one, ‘MEWE’ (Prophone/NAXOS), that was a huge success world wide and on top of that ‘MEWE’ and ALQ got nominated for “Jazz of The Year 2018” at the prestigious Manifestgalan in Stockholm.
In 2026, a new Sweden based band was formed called AHLFA. Updates will be up shortly.
In Portugal I’m the bandleader of Anna Lundqvist Lisboa Cinco, a quintet based in Lisbon. In September 2023, we released our debut album ‘Sou Anna’ (NAXOS). I also collaborate with drummer Maria Carvalho in The Carvalho Lundqvist Project, a project that we started in 2024. I love Lisbon and Portugal, it’s like a second home and I try to spend as much time there as possible.
Since December 2024, I’ve also been active in Germany as a member of the newly formed Swedish-German band FLUKE TRIO, together with Moritz Götzen and Jonas Hemmersbach. In April 2026 we released our first EP.
I live in Stockholm, where I was born, but I grew up in a small town called Mellerud, on the western side of Sweden. Alongside my own career, I freelance as a side-woman in temporary musical projects, as a composer, arranger and vocalist. I also work as a freelancer and give lectures on jazz vocals, vocal technique, jazz and improvisation, ensemble and composition. Both in Sweden and abroad at universities and other organizations and schools.
