Anna Lundqvist

Fluke
Trio.

It was April 2024 when Swedish jazz vocalist and composer Anna Lundqvist went to Germany with her Portuguese quintet to explore the German market. Anna lives in both Sweden and Portugal and divides her time between the two countries. When they needed to borrow a double bass for the first concert of their tour at Salon de Jazz in Cologne, Moritz Götzen (German bass player and composer) set out from Essen to deliverhis instrument. Even though they didn’t play together that evening, both Anna and Moritz felt a direct chemistry and a feeling that working together might be a good idea.

After checking out each other’s work, they met again at Bremen trade fair Jazzahead 2024 and decided to join forces. The weekend before chistmas 2024, they met again for rehearsals, brainstorming and a couple of start up concerts; a new project was born: FLUKETRIO.

Moritz compositions are influenced by classical music with a sound close to the European jazz atmosphere. Anna’s musical work wander seamlessly between European and American jazz, influenced by early classical music and Swedish hymns. Unbound by the necessity of using lyrics, her singing is ambitious and melodic, almost instrumental. Within this space, the two musicians found common ground to develop new ideas and evolve.

FLUKETRIO’s repertoire is based on original compositions by Moritz and Anna, but also includes brand new material that was written for the trio.
